LOWER BLEPHAROPLASTY

Often the removal of a little wrinkled skin along an incision that hugs the eyelash margin may help to rejuvenate the lower eyelid, as was done for the patient seen here in the top row. If the lower eyelid is is also found to be lax (a common occurrence), or if it sags a bit with the white of the eye visible between the iris and the lid margin (as seen in the other patient's pre-operative photo in the bottom row), then either the muscle under the eyelid skin will need to be tightened, or the ligament anchoring the outer corner of the eyelid to the bone will need to be tightened or repositioned to add proper support to the eyelid - as seen in the photo, bottom right.
